Currence Period: Cotton 14 days

Introduction and Properties

Profenphos, with the trade name Coracron, is a non-systemic insecticide from the organophosphate group, which controls a wide range of chewing and sucking pests in many crops, especially cotton bollworms and fruit tree pests, with contact, digestive and respiratory properties, along with acaricidal properties. Profenphos is effective immediately, its effect lasts for a long time, is strong and broad-spectrum, and by penetrating plant tissues, it controls insects such as minnows that live in plant tissues. Profenphos, by inhibiting the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, causes the accumulation of acetylcholine at the synapse site, and as a result, nerve stimulation continues continuously. Disruption of the insect’s central nervous system causes its death. This compound has penetrating properties and is able to move from the surface of the leaf to its back. Therefore, pests active under the leaves, which are usually immune to the effects of poison, can be easily controlled with this bollworm insecticide.
