Introduction and Properties
Dimethoate, with the trade name Roxion, is an insecticide from the organophosphorus insecticide group and the phosphorothioic acid subgroup, and has a contact-digestive effect and a very strong systemic effect.
Dimethoate acts by inhibiting the enzyme cholinesterase in the nervous system of animals. Since the amount of this enzyme necessary to break down acetylcholine in the synaptic space and eliminate this continuous stimulation is blocked by dimethoate, the stimulation of the nerve fiber continues continuously.
