Clopyralid

Brand: Levontrel

Formulation: 30% SL

Introduction and Properties

Clopyralid, with the trade name Lovantrel, is a selective and systemic herbicide from the pyridine carboxylic acid group that is applied retrogradely. It is absorbed through the leaves and roots, moves through the vessels, and accumulates in meristem tissues, which causes disruption of cell division and plant death. Clopyralid controls specific weeds from the pea, sunflower, and sedge families, so the type of weed must be identified before use. This herbicide has a long persistence in the soil and can be harmful to the next crop. This herbicide is recommended for rapeseed. Abnormal growth, twisting and bending of the stem and petiole, swelling of the stem and cupping of the leaves, chlorosis of meristem points, wilting and necrosis of tissues, and ultimately death of the plant within 3 to 5 weeks are some of the signs of the effect of the herbicide clopyralid on weeds.

Instructions for use

Broadleaf weeds in rapeseed fields (Compositae, Leguminosae, Hosta and Heptabanda) at a rate of 0.6 to 0.8 liters per hectare as a post-emergence treatment.
