Introduction and Properties
Ethion is a non-systemic insecticide and acaricide with contact effect from the organophosphorus group that is used against aphids and scale insects of cold-hardy fruit trees and citrus fruits. Ethion kills insects by inhibiting the function of the cholinesterase enzyme. Ethion has a strong knockdown effect and a medium protection period. This compound is used to combat aphids and mites of cold-hardy fruit trees, as well as leaf-eating larvae. Spraying Ethion at a certain dose with emulsifying oils is recommended for spraying dormant trees and in winter to destroy insect eggs, mites and aphids, and it does not have a herbicidal effect, except in some apple varieties (Delicious 106).
