Introduction and Properties
Dichlorvos, with the trade name Dedup, is an insecticide from the group of organophosphorus compounds (phosphoric acid derivatives) that is used non-systemically, with contact, digestive, respiratory (fumigation) and penetration effects against aphids, thrips and whiteflies in various crops. Dichlorvos is a nerve insecticide and an inhibitor of the cholinesterase enzyme in the central nervous system of insects and is prohibited for use in household insecticides. Due to its strong evaporation properties and since its effect disappears after 3 days, this poison can also be used on vegetables and greens. It has a herbicidal effect on some chrysanthemums.
