Introduction and Properties
Bentazone, with the trade name Bazargran, is a contact herbicide, a photosynthesis inhibitor from the benzothiadiazinone group that selectively controls broadleaf weeds and also the Oviraslam family in rice, soybean, alfalfa, peas, beans and corn after the crops have sprouted. Bentazone is absorbed through the leaves with very little translocation in the plant, and is also absorbed through the roots and transported by xylem. This toxin is effective on green weeds and has no effect on weeds that will sprout after spraying.
